      Graduate Development Programmer Interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at MathWorks in Jul 2019

      Interview

Had two separate interviews, the initial being a friendly, casual chat about my past experiences and motivation. This was a great talk which have me an even stronger interest in the role. The second interview, a technical test was not so great. They asked me to provide them with times I would be free to conduct the interview, of which I provided several. They never replied, and instead emailed me the exact time I had put as my first available slot saying they were ready to conduct the interview immediately. I was taken aback by the lack of respect for my time and lack of communication. However, I was fortunately in a place were I could conduct the interview and the process continued. The interview itself was not conducted well either: the questions were very open and general but the interviewer was looking for a specific answer only constituting a minor section of the topic inquired about. The interviewer also did not possess good enough English abilities, making the questions harder to understand and when asked for clarification, little help was given. Finally, the interviewer asked with an accusing voice half-way through the interviewer whether or not I was alone, undoubtedly wondering whether I was cheating. One of the worst, most disrespectful interviews I have ever had.
