I received an initial call from a gentleman who said he was from HR. I was asked by salary expectations, which I clearly stated and asked whether that was within his budget, which he confirmed it was. I was then asked to attend their office for an interview.
The interview confirmation email was unsigned but just stated on the signature strip that it was from the Marion Group HR Team. When I attended the interview, the gentleman introduced himself as Morgan, who during the second interview disclosed (after I asked) that he was the Chief Operating Officer of Marion Group.
After the second interview, I was told when I would hear back from them the following week after he had taken references and spoke to his management team. Two weeks passed and I received a call from the COO who offered me $10,000 + super less than my salary expectation, which I found extremely odd considering I had clearly established this during the initial phone conversation. I declined their offer.
I subsequently spoke to my referees who both said that they found the reference check very high level and unprofessional and agreed that I dodged a bullet there.
