I applied through college or university. I interviewed at McGregor Allsop (North York, ON) in Jan 2026
Interview
Very slow moving process, interviews are typical/average, not entirely unpleasant but felt unnecessary at times. Was told it's 3 rounds of interviews, 1) HR 2) Technical 3) Company prez, did two rounds myself.
Applied after seeing school job portal posting, HR emailed me mid Dec (about a week after applying), HR interview beginning of Jan, HR person said I would hear back by end of week for interview 2, did not hear back until maybe two weeks later, did second interview almost 3 weeks after the first interview. Reached out a week after not hearing back and was eventually told they went with another applicant. Technical interview includes a 30min MC test, it's not actually super technical, mostly intuitive stuff, like a gear chain diagram where you have to figure out which direction a certain gear will spin, a lever where you choose what point to push on requires the least force type of thing. Then mostly fluff questions, asked a lot about past experience, and the interviewers asked a few "technical" questions. For this role in particular they were definitely looking for someone with HVAC experience.

I applied online. I interviewed at McGregor Allsop in May 2022
Interview
If you have an interview, don't accept any offer!! This company isn't worth your time.
Totally rude engineers, during the whole interview time, i felt i was being interrogated! They were very hostile to me. I was asking a question about the work environment in the company and they responded to me in such a mockery and redicule as if i asked a stupid question! I am thankful i did not receive any offer because these people surely have no respect
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at McGregor Allsop (Toronto, ON) in Mar 2016
Interview
Applied for the position online. Couple of days after I was emailed by HR for an in person interview, at their office. It was intended to be the same protocol as a phone interview but in person.

Question 1
I was asked repeatedly to bring previous company projects printed for them to see (In my view I did not feel comfortable providing this or being asked of this). First few minutes, the HR lady talks about company and some minor formalities followed by the director of engineering. He will ask you detailed questions about your experience, technical knowledge and start looking at your projects that they requested. They asked detailed questions in regards to the projects. The director will give you a scenario to how you would approach a design. Your will be asked of your salary in your previous companies even though they advertised the salary they would offer for this position. Lastly the HR lady notified me of high number of applicants for this position.
