I was referred for two separate director level open product roles by former colleagues who now work at Facebook, a Director of Biz-Dev, and Dir in Marketing. Met with 2 recruiters, the second recruiter setup FBs formalized PM interview process, starting 3 weeks from the initial call.
Had two 1-1 PM interviews given by junior product managers. I'm pretty familiar with the process, I've actually coached multiple PM candidates on how to pass the Facebook interview process, (and they succeeded!), so I hoped my process would go well. I thought I'd given an articulate and decent showing of my product skills. From the rapport and communication on the call, I thought I'd made it past the simple first step, but apparently not. I received an email the next day saying Facebook wouldn't be moving forward. I then received an email from my friend at FB asking when I'd be joining her team. I emailed my recruiter to ask what was going on, no response. My friend also emailed asking for information, no response.
Finally, I asked a friend at FB that actually knows one of the junior PMs that conducted my interview and she casually brought it up in an internal chat, she said the interviewer commented that they already had enough 'white guys'.
I was really excited about these roles, they were a great fit, and now I just feel numb, I don’t know how to process this or what to do.
