    Application

I applied in-person. The process took 2+ weeks. I interviewed at Miss Selfridge (Preston, North West England, England (UK)) in April 2016.

    Interview

I handed in my CV to store as usually this is the most effective way to get a job as you are seen as being confident. After 2 weeks I got a phone call (I was told it would be 2 weeks when handing in my CV) and the woman was very kind and I had an interview 3 days later. Really, she just wanted to get to know me and what I was about. It was a very applicant based interview where if I said something she would lead on from that and ask another question. Overall the woman was very lovely and explained the companies thoughts and process. I have been offered the job and I am waiting for my induction.

I've worked with miss selfridge for 7 years now. Started as a sales advisor and I'm now a supervisor. I will give you an overview of what sales advisor questions they will ask you. If you are applying for a more senior position these questions will most likely still be asked however they will expect a more elaborate answer from you and there will be questions regarding back of house paperwork and your leader skills etc,

    Application

I applied in-person. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Miss Selfridge (Sheffield, England (UK)) in November 2015.

    Interview

I applied for a Christmas temp job in November. I handed in my CV to one of the sales assistants at the store. I was later asked by phone call to take part in an interview (It was on one day where I got to choose 5pm or 9pm). I arrived at the store 15 minutes earlier and give my name to the sales advisor where she then ticked it off on a piece of paper. It was a group interview of around 20 other girls (this was at my time, later on they would be another group). We were brought up to a room in the Topshop department where we took part in group activities. The group was split in half with one group being in the room and another going on the shop floor. In the room we was split into groups of 4 people where we played a game called ship wrecked where we had to chose items we would take if we was stuck on a island. This was to allow us to communicate with other group members. We given a sheet where we had to decide which are the most important things to have to be a sales advisor. (you could only choose 3) For example, being on time or being helpful to other staff. While we did this we were watched by other staff members (they sat with you and wrote things down). Then we had to give feedback to why we choose them to the rest of the group. Next we were brought onto the shop floor where we were given scenarios where we had to choose an outfit for a customer. After this we had to fill in a sheet that asked questions. They said we would receive a call if we got the job. Overall the interview lasted for 3 hours. It was just for a 4 hour shift.

    Interview Questions

    • What is your availability? What does a sales advisor role involve? When in the changing room what should you do? Customer service questions. Why do you want to work here?   Answer Question
