I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Morgan Stanley (New York, NY) in Apr 2010
Interview
It is a gauntlet. The first round was a phone interview with two people, 30 minutes each. Second round was in person with 6 people, each with 30 minutes. Final round was with hiring manager and department head, 30 minutes each. Everyone was extremely professional and seemed like genuinely nice people. Nice location at 50th and Broadway. Interestingly, the staff that had been there a long time looked tired, as if they had been worn down. Not surprising, given Morgan's reputation for working its people hard, although this could depend a lot on your role and manager. My only beef is that its been over a month since the final interview and I have not heard back either way. HR is largely outsourced and they don't really seem to know what's going on.
I applied in-person. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Morgan Stanley (New York, NY) in Jun 2010

1. Phone Screen for a half an hour

in total i met 13 ppl, and spent about 9 hours for the interviews.
Overall interviewers asked technical questions related to programming (e.g. Shell, perl, java, c++) languages. Also tested problem solving skill on a given situation. Interview wasn't that hard and at least they asked questions which they have the answer for.
