      Director, Product Management Interview

      Aug 9, 2018

      Universal City, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at NBCUniversal (Universal City, CA) in Jul 2018

      Interview

The beginning of the process was great. I was contacted on email, quickly passed to the direct hire for a phone interview, then a quick turnaround request to come in for an interview. The interview seemed fine, they didn't ask anything out of the ordinary. What I did not like was the rest of the process. I was given no updates. I had to request an update a week later and was told they would be meeting with the hiring team to discuss next steps and they would get back to me that Friday. I never heard anything again till I asked 2 weeks later if I should take this as that I'm no longer in the race. At this point I wouldnt want the job anyway, but I still wanted them to have to update me. I can see not always doing this for phone interviews, but when someone comes into the office, I think that at least deserves an update that I don't have to beg for. Really bad experience.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

They asked a lot about management style and product related questions on how you would change or do things. It was a little difficult to be judged on that when you have no information or data to go off that normally informs a lot of those decisions. They are aware of that, so it's really going to come down to the right aesthetic fit in an informal setting.
