I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at NHS (Wigan, England) in Jul 2023
Interview
I applied online, and it took them about two weeks to inform me that I had an interview for another two weeks. The interview was in person with a panel of only two people - both were very friendly. The interview felt relatively short and seemed only to last 15 minutes. This could be down to me performing poorly, or perhaps they already had decided who they would offer the job.
Interview questions [4]
Question 1
Q: What are the NHS Trust's values? Can you give an example of when you have demonstrated these values?
I applied online. I interviewed at NHS (Wales, England) in Mar 2026
Interview
a 20-30 minute interview in front of a panel, followed by a 15-minute practical test. The interview focused on health & safety and confidentiality (GDPR). Make sure you research GDPR and the various risks associated with the lab (Biological, chemical, and physical). So make sure you become familiar with how to prevent breaches of data and risks (SOPs, COSHH, PPE). Do some research on how the lab operates and your duties, as they may ask you about this. They also ask you how to ensure a team works well together. The practical test included arranging blocks in numerical order, accounting for alphabetical suffixes (e.g., if numbers are identical, A group precedes B, and B group precedes C). If you prepare well and do some research beforehand, it should go smoothly.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
- What is something about you that we would be surprised by? (Hobbies, interests, motivations, etc.)
- Why are you a good fit for this role?
- Why is it important to work in a team? What qualities are important when working in a team?
- What are the different risks around the lab?
- How would you ensure health and safety?
- whose responsibility is health and safety, and what would you do if you see somebody not following health and safety rules?
- What do you know about confidentiality?
- What would you do if your friend asked for test results?
It was a good interview I had to prepare for, wasn’t the easiest one I had. But I worked hard for it and did well. Questions are unexpected ones and not easy
