I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at NIKE (New York, NY) in May 2021
Interview
A recruiter reached out to me. After multiple calls about multiple roles, I had a good conversation with a hiring manager, who told me to expect to hear from the recruiter within 24 hours about next steps. The recruiter never reached out. I emailed several times but the recruiter never responded. I found the experience very disrespectful and a waste of time.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
They asked me to walk through large projects I had led/implemented.
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at NIKE (Portland, OR)
Interview
After the job recruiter interview, they set up an interview with the hiring manager without explaining how the interview would be. The hiring manager gave me two hands-on coding: 1) SQL, and 2) Python
Interview questions [2]
Question 1
There are two tables. The first table is 'RUN' and includes 'athleteID', 'RunID', 'RunDate', and 'RunTime'. The second table is 'Athlete' and includes 'AthleteID' and 'JoinDate' and 'Age'.
Write a query that shows the percentage of athletes who participated in the program in April 2024, meaning they have records in Table 1. An athlete may have multiple records in Table 1, but they are unique in Table 2.
We have:
[('kevin', 'march', 10),
('mark', 'april', 20),
('bill', 'march', 5),
('mark', 'april', 5),
('sarah', 'march', 2),
('sarah', 'may', 5),]
Determine each person has how many records in 'march'. You are allowed just to use built-in functions.
I applied online. The process took 7 weeks. I interviewed at NIKE in Apr 2022
Interview
I applied online and the process started with recruiter reaching out. We talked over phone about team composition, responsibilities, salary expectations, etc
The next step is the online interview Hirevue platform. I got two verbal questions and two coding problems. Each question does have a time limit, but all questions were fairly easy for a senior level role. I was able to finish them well before each question's time limit.
The following step is virtual interviews with the hiring manager and two team members. With the hiring manager, we basically went through my resume and talked about past projects and they asked me why Nike. With the two team members, in addition to some tech questions and going over my resume, there were one live coding question in each round.
The next few days after the interview, I heard back from the recruiter that I did well and feedbacks were quite positive. Another week in, I heard from the recruiter that they needed more time to make a decision. And then I was told they continued to interview other candidates. Eventually 3, 4 weeks after the last round of interview, I heard back from recruiter that they found a closer fit and I was not moving forward.
All in all, the experiences were relaxing and interviews were nice. The recruiter is friendly, respectful and kept me informed in a timely manner. From the interviews, I really like the nature of their projects and I like the two potential future team mates. Unfortunately I did not land a job offer.
