I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at NIKE (Bengaluru) in Jul 2021
Interview
I received a call from recruiter & they had initially scheduled HireVue round , with simple questions (3 hands-on , on SQL / Pyspark & 3 video recording questions.
After that I had 70 mins technical discussion with the interviewers. The quality of questions were great. The interview was more focused on process behind the answers , like process behind bucketing , how much size of parquet file. Literally, good quality of questions were put upon. Hands on were simple at the end.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Can we have bucketing for external tables,
Can dictionary support duplicate values,
Reading a parquet file to spark DF,
Bucketing working & different types of joins in hive (bucket join , map join , functionality behind them)
I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at NIKE (Bengaluru) in May 2025
Interview
Had 2 rounds - 1st one was general questions about my role and a few behavioural questions
2nd round - the interviewer didn’t even go through with the round because he thought my experience was not fitting seeing my resume
The interview was highly technical, focusing on databases, SQL optimization, and algorithms. I had to explain SQL queries, partitioning strategies, and indexing techniques. There were also questions about Python, particularly decorators and generators.
I feel like the hiring process was unfair in the last round. I received an interviewer where we had a language barrier. I used sophisticated grammar that he couldn’t understand, and his accent was something that I could not understand.
