Went through 2 recruiters for a job that has been open for over a year and "difficult to fill". Staff was cordial but interview was social distance 5 on 1. Facilities were spartan with old chairs and no frills. Interview seemed to go well and my skillset was 90% what they needed, but I felt something was not right. No offer, but I accepted a good offer elsewhere the next day. Only feedback I got was that I was unclear about which MCU was my favorite (?) My take away is that they need to hire an experienced engineer but the new owners won't give them the money for one, so they were going to use my interview to prove to HR that they needed to increase the funding. I can't help thinking that this was never a real job opening after all. Job is still open at this time of writing.
