Recruiter had reached out to me on LinkedIn about the opportunity, I instantly respond with suggested dates and time. The recruiter does not respond. I then follow up, and the recruiter agrees to a time and says they will set up a calendar invite. The recruiter does not do this and so I follow up again and the recruiter finally puts the time in my diary.
30 minute talk mostly culture focused.
Following that, time is set with the hiring manager, but the recruiter does not ask for my CV and does not prompt me to share with the hiring manager. Interview with the hiring manager went ok, but of course without a CV it’s quite difficult to centre a conversation. Nonetheless, I thought it went quite well. The recruiter asks how it went to which I instantly respond and ask what the next steps are, and of course no response. After 2 weeks I tell them I am not interested, as after a couple more follow ups from my end the recruiter does not respond.
Do not waste your time with this company, because they will certainly waste yours.
I applied online. I interviewed at Odevo in Jan 2026
Interview
Applied online within a week I had an interview. The company vision sounded great and I was excited about the prospects of contributing to the firm's goals. They have some ambitious growth goals for the next few years. The job was outlined as needing a senior level person. The recruiter asked for my salary requirements and I gave her my requirements, within the market band, based on Glassdoor and my previous compensation. She came back a few days later and gave me a band that was about 75k below the market. For what the position is requiring I believe that they will be hard-pressed to get a qualified candidate at their budgeted rate.

Question 1
What is the most important skill that is needed in this role.
Pros:
• The company seems to have an ambitious vision.
• Initial recruiter outreach was friendly.
• Seemed like an interesting place to work, at least on paper.
Cons:
• Extremely slow and unorganized hiring process. Initial enthusiasm quickly faded when communication became inconsistent.
• Lack of transparency. Instead of giving clear updates, they delayed responses multiple times with vague reasons.
• Unclear candidate priorities. It felt like they were stringing candidates along rather than making real hiring decisions.
Advice to Management:
• Be honest with candidates about where they stand.
• If hiring is delayed or uncertain, communicate that instead of making people wait for weeks.
• Treat applicants with the same professionalism you expect from them.
