    Development Manager/E-Commerce Client Manager Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Allen, TX
    No Offer
    Negative Experience
    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took a week. I interviewed at PFSweb (Allen, TX) in June 2016.

    Interview

I applied for the development manager position that was advertised on their website. I received an email from their recruiter wanting to know if I was interested in an e-commerce client manager position. I told the recruiter I would be interested in either position and i asked if the development position was filled. i never received a response.

Upon a phone interview, I was told that the position has changed names but that it was the same position. During the phone interview, the recruiter asked what my salary requirement was. I told him and he was shocked, because I stood my ground and asked for what I was worth after 15 years of experience. He tried to talk me down, saying he was suprised that I was making what I was making, considering, according to him, I only had 4 years applicable experience.

I find this disrespectful. If I only wanted 4 years of my resume considered for the position, I would have only put 4 years on my resume. What this disrespectful recruiter doesn't understand is that when you have 4 years in the position +11 YEARS OF ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE, that makes you a MUCH MORE VALUABLE EMPLOYEE other than someone WHO ONLY HAS 4 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE!!!

In addition, the recruiter told me that this account "may not work out". What I gathered from the interview was that they wanted someone young, dumb, and stupid, that would take the bait and work for them short-term and when the contract goes away, so would the job.

The recruiter told me that this "special" account required someone who was a US citizen and who could pass a strict background check because of the account. (For those of you who work at the company, you can probably figure out which account this is). And that no one in the company was interested in this account (gee...I wonder why.....BECAUSE WHEN THE ACCOUNT LEFT SO WOULD YOUR JOB!!)

A follow-up email after the phone interview confirmed that what I was asking for in salary was more than what they were offering for the position. I responded by saying to keep me in mind for another position that may become available. I said "My 15 years of professional experience would be an asset to your organization." He responded with saying "Correct me if I'm wrong, but you don't have 15 years of experience in xxx position." I stated my 15 years of PROFESSIONAL experience would be an asset, but again he disrespected me in the email.

Even if you are desperate for a job, don't do it. And for those of you who are seasoned employees, clearly they don't value your experience. This is not a good place to work. Stay away.

He thinks he got away with disrespecting me by putting me down, but I got the last laugh because I am putting him and his company on blast for the whole world to see! HA!

    Business Development Director Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Denver, CO
    No Offer
    Neutral Experience
    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at PFSweb (Denver, CO) in May 2016.

    Interview

I was recruited for this job. The interview process is pretty straightforward. They put you in touch with a variety of internal folks. There is one in-person interview but since the positions are all remote most of the conversations are on the phone.

They called my references, had me prepare work for the hiring manager, conduct a personality quiz and told me they were set to make an offer... then I had a conversation with the CEO. My dialog was the same as with everyone else the previous two months but he seemed to have a different approach to the business than the sales leaders. That resulted in them "going a different direction" and starting the recruitment process over again.

    Senior Site Merchandiser Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Allen, TX
    No Offer
    Negative Experience
    Average Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at PFSweb (Allen, TX) in January 2016.

    Interview

I was initially contacted by HR for a phone screen, and then again by the hiring manager for an in-person. The first round I met with 2 Merchandising Managers; 1 Category, 1 Analytics. Then I met with the group Manager. I thought the interviews went great, but no one would follow-up with me regarding their decision to move forward, which was hugely disappointing. I think they thought I was either over-qualified or too technical leaning into to web production & QA. That is unfortunate they could not see the bigger picture.
