I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Palantir Technologies in May 2019
Interview
Very long process with a lot of technical interview at different locations and remote. It sometimes felt more like a hiring farm since on site you met tens of other applicants from all over the world. The way you are treated overall is quite nice though, they fly you around and sleep in hotels at their costs, keep you up to date with the process and are generally very nice and clear.
However it was every time very unclear how much more interview would follow (I finally did ~8 interviews) and it was a very long and extensive process where you are tested over and over again based on the white-board like interviews and with the assignment you would expect at big tech companies. You are lucky if you happen to have practiced some or if you have the right person in front of you or just really good at the smart tricks you need for most of these assignments. I think the overall process is very subjective, based on if people happen to have done certain specific things before and complexity driven instead of focussed on day-to-day work and doesn't take into account people's adaptiveness to learn and pick up quickly.
Interview questions [6]
Question 1
Find the sum of the biggest island in a 2D array (bonus; while traversing only once). Islands are defined by numbers in an array, a zero is sea, anything bigger is an island.
Had a chat with HR and then a technical interview with an engineer. They gave some some quite normal leatcode type questions that I had to answer to continue to the next steps.
I interviewed at Palantir Technologies (New York, NY)
Interview
I have so far completed the 20 minute recruiter call, which was an easy behavioral. They asked me what I'm looking for in a job and what I do at my current role.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Palantir Technologies (New York, NY)
Interview
Quick call with recruiter then technical interview. First call was easy, fit of company etc... Technical interview was leetcode easy and code walk through. Overall, much easier than what I had read online.
