      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Paycom in Jul 2018

      Interview

Phone Interview: A recruiter calls and asks you basic questions about why you chose paycom, your work ethic, stressful situations and how you handled them, and other typical questions. He/she will then want to set up an in person interview, and will send you an excel and logic test to take before the interview. Interview 1: This was a few days after phone interview. I met with my recruiter before I interviewed and she asked if I had any questions before hand. Really, if you have any questions, ASK. These recruiters will go above and beyond to help you out any way you need and make you feel super comfortable. I was told the interview would take around 30-45 minutes and it ended up only being about 20.. so it was super fast and they asked similar questions to the ones asked in the phone interview. It was a really relaxed process, the interview room isn't intimidating at all. I had to take a second logic test after the interview was over, but just practice online and you will be good to go! Interview 2: This was two days after first interview. The second interview was with someone higher up in the department I was interviewing for. I met with my recruiter again before, she was very sweet and helpful. The person interviewing me asked similar questions but they were more in depth. How is success measured at your job? How do you handle negative feedback? Just take your time and answer to your best ability, if your job doesn't really do those things are you're not technically "measured" do your best to explain how your job process works and how you feel like you've succeeded. Contingent offer: I received an offer that evening that was based upon me passing all the necessary checks. They do a background check, credit check, employment and education verification, and a drug test. This whole process took a week. Yes, a full week. I have never had anything take this long so i was freaking out and panicking, but don't worry, it just takes them a little bit longer. The contingent offer lists vacation information and dress code information so you know how to dress your first day. Final offer: You will receive a call from the HR department congratulating you and giving you your final offer. They will tell you that they will send you an email telling you what to bring and expect your first day. If you initially put a start date that you can't do anymore because the background process took a little bit longer and you need to put a full two weeks, tell them. They will move your start date and they're super helpful. Overall experience: I thoroughly enjoyed every single person I came into contact with. You can tell they love their jobs and that they are willing to go above and beyond for their employees. I am really excited to start here in about two weeks!

      Interview

I really enjoyed speaking with Kandace, Sara, and Levi! They are very wholesome, kind, energetic, and passionate about what they do. Although I have been applying to paycom (many different positions) over the past 5 years, I never gave up! Interview process: 1. Complete multiple applications (better chances) 2. a phone interview 3. In person interview (single panel = 2members: team leader and hiring manager) 4. 24-48hrs you will get an update 5. On boarding paperwork and screenings I cannot wait to begin this new journey with such an amazing work-family! I say family because, let's face it, we spend just as much time at work as we do at home and you WANT to love what you do and who you work with. ☺

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Some of the questions asked were in the nature of "give me an example of a time when..." You REALLY want to use the STAR interview method when answering these types of questions. That helped me out soooo much! If you're like me, I have always been terrible at being interviewed, but am such a dependable and hardworking person; so I recommend studying the STAR method. It just really puts everything into perspective and gives that extra detail they're searching for. I hope this helps you too!
