      I interviewed at Paycom

      Interview

I'll start by saying the recruiter that I worked with was incredibly professional and communicative throughout the entire process. She reached out to me on LinkedIn and scheduled an initial call which consisted of pretty straightforward get to know you questions. Next step was a Zoom call with the hiring manager who's questions were straightforward as well. After that was a Zoom call with the regional director which was a bit more difficult but nothing crazy. The final step was a ride along with one of their current Client Relations Reps. Overall the interview experience wasn't too difficult and I found everyone to be pleasant. However I did find a few things to be interesting- before my meetings with the hiring manager, regional director, and ride along I received an email prepping me with the exact questions they were going to ask me, questions I should ask them, and was also told what to wear. I found this to be a bit odd and honestly made me think that the hiring process might be too easy if they are just teeing everything up to the candidates. Also, the position is advertised as an Account Manager but internally it's referred to as Client Relations Representative. This was strange to me as the titles "manager" and "representative" are quite different, it almost felt like a bit of a bait and switch. Overall from what I can tell Paycom is a great company to work for for those who are extremely competitive and sales oriented. It seems like the kind of place where if you put your head down and work and it will eventually pay off. Personally I was looking for a bit of a more holistic workplace that could speak to values more than Paycom but for the right person I'm sure it's a great fit.
