Initially denied due to lack of experience in farm animal care, then considered because of their need for help. Lengthy phone conversations and this organization is VERY DEDICATED to finding someone to meet their incredibly high standards. Offered three paid working interviews, which I attended all three. After inquiring about having health benefits, paid sick time and what their work/life balance and scheduling is like (including working mandatory days, this is a farm after all) the interest of hiring me had been withdrawn. I received an email that implied I was not in favor of their mission, and that I should stay in the "for-profit working sector" if I wanted all the "bells and whistles". I was also told that if I "really" wanted to make a difference in the world, "a work/life balance goes right out the window" and that anyone who works for them doesn't consider a work/life balance, and that the topic of conversation is "quite trite" and rather not be discussed amongst those workers. Overall, this organization cares GREATLY about their mission. However, they act scorned to anyone who doesn't meet their high standards and will treat you like you're against them, not with them, if you inquire about establishing your needs as a worker for them.
