I cannot believe what an unfair and inaccessible hiring experience this company has. I applied to the position and a few days later got an automated email from a mailing list asking me to complete a "personality questionnaire" and a "problem-solving exercise". Well the personality questionnaire was 7 pages of about 20 multiple choice questions- trying to gage what kind of person the candidate is. This process feels wildly discriminative to people who are differently abled or have mental health conditions- it's clear that answering "strongly disagree" to questions such as "I find it easy to prioritise tasks", "I never procrastinate", "I excel in public speaking" would work against the applicant- but this feels biased against applicants with ADHD, dyslexia, or social anxiety (for example). Additionally, the "problem-solving exercise" was nothing short of a timed IQ test. Why on earth a UX/UI designer needs to have unmatched verbal and non-verbal reasoning skills to do their job is a mystery to me. This test, once again, marginalised a group of applicants purely based on their "cognitive abilities", completely discriminating against differently abled applicants. The whole process took nearly 2 hours to complete and I was confident in my answers yet I've now been rejected from moving onto the interview stage. UX designers should work to make digital experiences equitable, accessible and enjoyable and, it's clear from Persona's hiring process, that they don't share these same values. A bullet well dodged.
