      Technical Account Manager Interview

      Mar 5, 2025
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Pinpoint in Feb 2025

      Interview

The screening call was by video link, where I just answered questions. There was no human interaction, just 1-2 mins to answer a series of questions. I found that incredibly impersonal and not a great way to convey the best version of myself. I received an email inviting me to a hiring manager interview a few days after submitting this. Unable to schedule a meeting in the next working week as I had prior commitments and the HM was on leave, I agreed to meet someone else from the company. I was presented with a number of timings to select, which were all post 5pm. Upon enquiring about why this was, I was informed that my interview was based in West US so it was to allow for the time difference, which is fine but that needs to be made clear to candidates. This interview went well, I enjoyed my conversation with the interviewer very much and was excited to invited to the technical assessment the following week. Upon logging into the platform to complete my task, I discovered that it had not been set up properly so I was unable to complete it. I emailed the recruiter who replied saying that I should be able to see what I needed to now. I could, but was now half an hour into my allotted hour of task completion. I was instructed to just do what I could and the panel interview that would immediately follow would be notified of the mistake. The interview itself did not go as well as I'd hoped, I turned up somewhat anxious and a little frustrated as I had not been able to complete the tasks. I was asked to talk through what I would do but hadn't had ample time to even really look at the platform to answer coherently. I received an apology for the mess up, but was not offered any alternative task and as such I don't feel like I had the opportunity to showcase my skills in an environment where I was set up for success so I decided to withdraw from the process. I was told that the initial screening call was conducted as a one-way video due to the number of applicants for the role but the exact role was reposted again only hours after I withdrew my application which suggests to me that this was not the case.

Thank you for sharing your experience with our hiring process. We appreciate your time and the feedback you’ve provided. We understand that the one-way video screening may have felt impersonal, and we apologize for that. Given the high volume of applications, we implemented this approach to ensure we could review all candidates fairly and in a timely manner. Regarding interview scheduling, as a global team, we have hiring managers and interviewers working across different time zones. Our process allows candidates to self-schedule interviews based on the available time slots, ensuring flexibility while accommodating different time zones. We sincerely regret the technical issue with your assessment environment. As soon as the issue was identified, we took responsibility and offered you the opportunity to redo the affected portion of the assessment. We completely understand how this situation may have caused frustration, and we regret that it impacted your experience. Lastly, to clarify, the role was never closed or reopened—it has remained open throughout the entire process as part of our ongoing hiring efforts. Our interview process has also remained the same from the start, ensuring consistency for all candidates. We truly appreciate your time and wish you the best in your future endeavors. Thank you again for your candid feedback..
