Anonymous Employee in San Francisco, CA
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Pinterest (San Francisco, CA) in May 2022
The process took about 4 weeks. I submitted an application via someone I know at Pinterest who referred me, and the recruiter called about a week after. The first call was pretty standard, and was told I would be speaking to the Hiring Manager, which was a few days after the initial call. The interview was pretty standard- I talked about my experience, my interest in Pinterest etc. About a week later I was told I would be moving forward to the final round. The final round consists of 4 interviews, all people you would likely be working with. One of the interviews is a case and the questions are behavioral and each interview focuses on one specific area (I.e. Building Capabilities). The case is presented as if the person interviewing is the client. Although it is a lot, and you spend a lot of time preparing, everyone were super nice and the interviews still felt conversational. Everyone seemed super genuine and was interested in hearing about my experience, thought process etc. After about a week, the recruiter called me to let me know I got the job. Recruiter communicated well with me throughout the entire process, and the interviews felt somewhat challenging, yet friendly. I still felt I could be myself!
- How do you handle ambiguity in the workplace? Why Pinterest (vs. other social media channels)? Have you ever had to convince a client to change a campaign KPI? If so, how did you approach that?

It was 3 stages but feedback process is slow. The interviewers were calm and took me through the process smoothly. The overall interview process was just there. Nothing exceptional from other interviews.
- What is one thing you would want to change if you are hired.

Good initial start and interviews, but then communication and follow up stagnated while other opportunities moved faster and materialized. Ended up going with another offer rather than waiting around to hear back on next steps.

Recruiter call and then phone screen and on-site. Questions are not hard but they didn't provide me a offer since I am more FE developer but they want Fullstack. They ask me to wait more positions and interview again however ghost me during the massive layoffs these months.
- Leetcode medium. System design and HM call

Disorganized. They kept moving my interview to different days. The interviewer was rude and stressed out, and he cut the interview short. They sent a rejection with a person's name that I never interviewed with included in it.
- Typical questions were asked of me.

I got the following list of rounds from the company interview: * 2 system design interview questions * 3 coding interview questions * 1 big data coding question In general, it was similar to other tech company interview process
- * designing a machine learning pipeline that extract various signals from the contents and making it available to others. It was consisted of batch and real-time processing consideration. * coding interview was just medium level leetcode questions

Long process to interview with the company! Took a while for the recruiter to get back to me. But overall an okay experience and would advise future candidates to really be prepared.
- Which data platform do you use?

The interviewer rescheduled the interview three times, which was not very professional, and showed no respect for the candidate's time. Therefore, I will not recommend interviewing or working for this company.
- Tell me about yourself, talk about your past projects

Anonymous Interview Candidate
I interviewed at Pinterest
The recruiter booked a meeting with me; I could only get through two rounds of interviews. The first interview was ML basic questions and a coding challenge. The second interview was similar; however the coding challenge was harder. Leetcode medium to hard questions
- What is regularization used for is the ROC curve for binary or non binary

Anonymous Employee
I applied online. I interviewed at Pinterest
Many interviews that were very difficult but at least that means the company is strict with hiring. Positive interviewees and nice recruiter, more outgoing than i have seen elsewhere in the tech market.
- Technical questions and a few behavioral across the rounds
