I applied through college or university. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Plante Moran in Oct 2016
Interview
I had an on campus interview after attending a job fair and speaking with a recruiter. It was thirty minutes long and consisted of standard behavioral questions. There were no tricky questions. They just asked about your leadership ability and greatest accomplishment. They just want to know if you will be a good fit for the company. I got a call back the next day about scheduling an office visit.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Plante Moran (Chicago, IL) in Aug 2018
Interview
The interview process was one that most of the other firms follow. Phone interview and then an office interview at the firm. Everybody was outgoing and made you feel very comfortable. The Chicago office is absolutely beautiful. You can tell by visiting the firm that there is a reason why they preach on their outstanding culture. I was very impressed with the firms values and the employees I met throughout the office interview. However, the audit staff positions that I applied for were given to the interns for Winter of 2019. Fall 2019 has positions open and waiting to hear about a decision at the end of October, once the other candidates have interviwed, since I interviewed early. I would never consider waiting until Fall 2019 to start but Plante Moran is significantly different than the Big 4 and other public accounting firms. Plante Moran is very selective when hiring because they seek only the best employees. Whether I receive an offer or not, Plante Moran was by far one of the best accounting firm interview experiences I've ever had.
I applied through college or university. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Plante Moran (Grand Rapids, MI) in Sep 2015
Interview
Process was very smooth and moved along very quickly. Met them through a career fair at school and was then called to set up a phone interview. The interview was about half an hour long and very conversational. Basic behavioral questions.
