      Software Engineer Interview

      Sep 29, 2021
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Portland, ME
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Polly (Portland, ME) in Sep 2021

      Interview

To be honest, I found this job lower paying than the others I was applying to, yet way more requirements in terms of technical interview questions/assessments. The initial screening was 90% technical , <10% behavioral. Then they send a technical assessment on unit tests despite my honesty in having very little experience with constructing unit tests. I did not complete the assessment as I had other offers from higher paying companies by the time it was sent. In my opinion if the pay isn't as competitive , then the interviews should not be as demanding in my humble opinion. Did not feel sold on the culture or what's in it for me at all so it was a miss for me.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

      1. How would you describe a RESTful API to a non technical person 2. Describe what a unit test is and its importance

      Interview

I got a phone call that went well and then was ghosted. Completely unprofessional company that cares only about themselves. If this is how they treat people when interviewing I'm glad that I did not get a job there.

      Software Engineer Interview

      Anonymous employee
      New York, NY
      Accepted offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Polly (New York, NY)

      Interview

One phone call, one team interview. Use bait and switch methods ruthlessly to give an impression of being easygoing, when they are anything but. Interview process doesn't assess your actual skills at all (maybe general knowledge), so be prepared to be let go if you end not meeting their demands. Multiple people have gone this way in the past year, which is a lot for a company this size.

      Interview questions [3]

      Question 1

      Describe a software design pattern.

      Question 2

      Question 3
