I applied for the role, and the next day the VP of the team scheduled the interview. No recruiter. It went really well, and let me know I was the first one she was interviewing so it would be a few weeks for her to finish the other interviews. Asked me to keep her updated if I got any other offers. Then 4 or 5 days later, I got a standard rejection email. That's fine not to extend an offer, but why skip the other steps and say you're interested in me, only to send a rejection email within a few days?
