Interview
It was a strange experience as a first round with HR, I had a feeling they weren't well prepared and probably don't have a very mature hiring process. The things that got stuck with me were:
-In general the HR person seemed okay as a person. He was nice, the interview didn't feel like a corporate interrogation.
-The person came in using some really bad microphone so it was very noisy and kept cutting out. It is somewhat okay, but also seemed like they either didn't invest in better gear or didn't prepare their setup beforehand.
-He kept asking questions that didn't seem to make much sense. It was hard to have a dialogue as it looked like the person asking didn't have the domain knowledge to understand my replies or the questions themselves. Maybe someone else wrote them, who also had limited expertise in the topic.
-They got visibly surprised when I gave them the lower end of an industry standard salary as an expectation and from the reaction the number was too high for them. It seems like they underpay quite a bit.
- There was an AI note taking bot in the call that sent the notes later as an e-mail. There were multiple huge mistakes in those notes.
