      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at QA (Manchester, England) in Sep 2016

      Interview

Firstly, submitted CV to their website, received a phone call in a few days regarding the role and to arrange a telephone interview. Immediately after telephone interview was told I was successful and was invited to an assessment day, also given some information on what would happen during assessment day. The assessment day began at 10am with introductory talks from the academy director in regards to the history of the company, what they do and the clients they have. After the introductory talks, we were given some multiple-choice tests to do; Java test, aptitude and logical reasoning test. We were then put into two groups and given a team task to create a product in three hours and to present it at the end of the day. During the group exercise, we were called one by one to conduct a short 15-minute technical interview which revolved around your technical background, e.g. If you did Java before you will be tested on Java. The day finished around 5:00pm

      Question 1

What made you choose this role? What programming languages do you know? Describe what your project is on? What are the key principles of object-orientated programming? How would you describe object-orientated programming to a non-technical person?

      Interview

Very easy online aptitude test. Anyone who has managed to get a Comp Sci degree should pass this test with flying colours. Was wary of company as process up to the invitation to assessment day was easy and not very technical. Offered invitation to assessment day but rejected after looking at reviews on Glassdoor. Seems like they just want to take anyone and everyone.

      Interview

The interview went smooth, with some group tasks that needed to be done over the course of the day, as well as one on one technical interview. Even though the technical interview was asking specific questions about java, the follow up job teaches java from 0, and it appears that during interview they mostly look at how you approach the questions, so speaking your logic is always a plus. There was a presentation of the group work at the end of the day.

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at QA (Salford, North West England, England) in Sep 2016

      Interview

The hiring process was streamlined and fast, taking just under 3 weeks from application to offer. There were no 'waiting in the dark' periods whatsoever, and communication throughout with my recruitment consultant, Chloe Milton, was impeccable to say the least. During the telephone interview I was made to feel comfortable and I feel due to this I was able to perform my best for this stage. It was during the phone call I was told I was successful (which is also a first for me in my experience with hiring processes) and we arranged the next step immediately. The assessment centre was by far the best I have been to. It was set in a historic Tudor hall in Salford, Greater Manchester and this immediately created a more relaxed vibe. After some paperwork, we started off with an informative and entertaining presentation on QAC followed by 2 tests then finally the group project with 1-1 interviews alongside. Some had their interviews outside as it was good weather, others like myself had it in a room steeped in historic value. I found the interview straightforward and challenging, it covered OOP concepts and practices and also my CV in detail so in the end I thought it was well balanced. To reiterate a point made earlier: as far as communication goes, Chloe really set herself apart from every other recruitment team I've dealt with in the past on applications. She was always keeping in contact to check up and see how I was doing, providing me with a wealth of useful information and giving me excellent guidance. This level of care was new to me and very refreshing! Overall my experience of the hiring process was one that has not been matched before, it was incredibly organised, structured and a real pleasure.
