      Product Designer Interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Qlik (Stockholm, Stockholm) in Sep 2024

      Interview

I was invited to a first interview with the recruiter. he explained a bit about the company, asked me what I knew about the company and some other questions about values then asked me if I want to meet with the hiring manager. I then went to the hiring manager interview. great experience, he asked me lots of questions, all seemed relevant. we seemed to understand each other. He professed a honesty and transparency as first and foremost value. Also feedback and support. He asked me if I wanted to go on to the third step which was working and presenting a case study. I said yes, got the assignment, worked on it a few days and presented it to a panel of SIX people (head of UX, head of design, senior product designer and so on). They said I would get info early the week after. Monday went by and so Tuesday and Wednesday. On Thursday I reached out to the recruiter just to casually ask about it. I then noticed that they put the ad I applied for again on LinkedIn and so I emailed again the recruiter to ask what that meant for me. No response. I messaged the hiring manager too, no response. Days passed by and then I got an automated email from a name I never met during the process saying I was rejected. Honestly, I didn't even care about the rejection, is part of the "game", but after all the talks about feedback and honesty, it felt GROSS to be treated like this. especially so far in the process.

      Question 1

Why shouldn't I hire you? What is the downside of low fidelity design?

Thank you for sharing your feedback about your recent interview experience at Qlik. We genuinely appreciate your insights, and we're sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. We are committed to continuous improvement and I have used your comments in our most recent Talent Acquisition team call, as a call to action for everyone in the team to try to ensure this does not happen again in future - it is unacceptable. I will also be using this as an example of what not to do, in our upcoming training for Hiring Managers. Best regards, Qlik - Culture and Talent Team
