The process took 9 months. I interviewed at Rakuten (Tokyo) in Jan 2019
Interview
Multiple interviews, very slow process. Had to follow up 5-6 times in order to get a reply from the human resource department. The interviewers changed and had to be treated like a new interview altogether.
It honestly felt like they didn't even look at my portfolio or resume before the interview. Their questions felt a bit dismissive right off the bat.
I ended up passing, but I decided to pull out of the process.

Question 1
Since your team is so small, how do you even know if this design is actually the right solution?
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Rakuten (San Jose, CA) in Apr 2022
Interview
The process was for 2 long months. I had 6 rounds of interview. I got call from recruiter saying I am selected and she will be sending my offer letter.
After 3 days she calls me and says I will have to attend another interview 7 th round? Worst part was that guy had not joined the company yet that was very disappointing.
Next day they called me and said I was not selected because they need more experience.
So I would never want to apply to Rakuten ever because the company does not value their words.
