      Middleware Engineer Interview

      May 17, 2019
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Red Hat in May 2019

      Interview

I applied through a referral. I had a phone call with a Talent Acquisition specialist who talked about a possible position in the middleware team. He asked me usual questions about why would I like to join the company, if I had some experience with open source and something about my background. Then, after two weeks (he told they had to stop the hiring process for a while), he set up a phone call with the manager. The phone call with the manager, and a CTO of the team, went good but I didn't know what kind of technologies they were looking for. They asked me simple questions to test my background about Maven, Java and Git. Even if I reply to all questions, I was sincere and told them that I hadn't used those technologies for a while, since I was working on C/C++ projects. As expected, I was rejected because my technical knowledge was not complex enough for our team needs about those technologies, even if I had only questions about Maven and Git (they only asked me what was last Java version I used). Anyway, it was a good interview experience, not so complex, and I'll definitely reapply once I get a strong background on Java and container-based technologies. The only negative note is that the Talent Acquisition recruiter did't tell me which specific skills and technologies the specific team was looking for, which would have been useful for me to prepare properly.
