      Interview

I had a call with a recruiter where I explained my experience and clearly indicated that I had never used Elixir before. I was told that on the job training will be provided to use Elixir and that Elixir is not required in the application process. The job posting also indicated the same. The next round, I met with a manager to answer behavioral questions about my experience. After passing this round, I moved on to the take home exercise which I was surprised to learn must be completed in Elixir and required learning the Elixir language as well as the Phoenix framework. I spent 2 weeks learning Elixir and completing the take home exercise, addressing all requirements and ensuring the code was clean and performance was great with best practices followed and documented. I was rejected from this round and the feedback was nonsensical, as it made points that were specifically addressed in my README design notes. I completed all the explicit requirements but they expected me to do some other steps as well that would require a complete assumption on my part as to what's expected. Typically minor improvements or additional requirements would be addressed as part of the next interview to discuss the take home assignment, but I was rejected at this point. The experience left me feeling that my time was disrespected, and that the engineering team seems rather inexperienced.

I applied online. I interviewed at Remote (Madrid) in Jun 2026

      Interview

Habría ahorrado tiempo y energía a ambas partes.

      Interview

Long process consisting of 5 stages, but very transparent from the beginning and overall a good experience. I felt supported at every stage. I enjoyed doing technical exercise, and the presentation of it which was more like a conversation was very rewarding.
