I applied online. I interviewed at Renewables Grid Initiative
Interview
I submitted a detailed application, the second step of which was following up by answering two in-depth questions related to the difficulties of a fair transition to renewable energy across Europe, and one about RGI moving into the podcast space.
The point of contact for the recruitment process was the CEO.
Having a history of my emails ending up in recipients' spam folders, which has led to a few missed opportunities, I decided to reach out to briefly introduce myself, I've done this in the past. In fact, I received my last role after a similar call where the co-founders of the company I ended up working for never saw my initial email at all. I simply wanted to ensure my documents were seen.
I was deeply interested in their initiative, and was excited about the prospect of being a part of their mission to decarbonize the energy grid in Europe.
Having received no answer via their office line, I called the number associated with the CEO, which is on their public website, as are the phone numbers of literally every other member of their team.
I got as far as saying my name and mentioning the role before the CEO raised her voice at me, and hung up. The call lasted around twenty seconds.
I wrote her back (still having no idea whether or not my emails are even arriving in an inbox), and reminded her that this is not the behavior of a leader, much less someone working in this vital space.
She was hateful, thoughtless, had no patience, and zero empathy.
This was a call that would have lasted perhaps two minutes. She behaved as if my call was some sort of massive affront. Again, I'll remind you, all of their phone numbers are listed on their team page.
Maybe I caught her on a bad day, but that doesn't justify her behavior. If you don't want to be contact on professional matters, perhaps don't put every avenue of possible contact short of your home address on your business website.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Renewables Grid Initiative in Jan 2022
Interview
The interview was led by colleagues from the communications team, and was done in a respectful and a proffesional manner. The interviewers were well acquinted with my profile before the interview, and their questions focused on specific experiences from my resume. I especially appreciated the positive atmosphere and the interviewer's communication skills, which has allowed for the conversation to go smoothly.
