Had a call with the CTO, who talked about his journey and Root, I asked a lot of questions, he was the one who did almost all the talking and felt I don't think he asked me anything. He seemed pretty burnt out.
I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Root Global in Aug 2025
Interview
My experience interviewing with this company was largely negative. The interview process felt very long and draining, culminating in a final round that lasted around four hours, including multiple coffee chats and a whiteboard challenge. This made it challenging to perform at my best. It also seemed that the company might be looking for a lead designer but offering a mid-to-senior level salary and recognition, which felt misaligned.
Additionally, the office environment does not appear very appealing, which is a concern given the company’s expectation of full office presence. Overall, I would caution candidates to carefully consider the expectations and workload before pursuing a role here.

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Root Global in Jul 2025
Interview
The interview process consisted of three stages:
First round: Introductory chat with a junior team member.
Second round: A detailed case study assignment with 24 hours to complete.
Third round: Presentation of the case study (expected).
I dedicated significant time (around 24 hours) to prepare a high-quality case study. However, when it came time to present, only a junior employee attended the call, which was unexpectedly shortened to 30 minutes due to a scheduling conflict. I was told to expect feedback by the end of the week, but after following up twice, I received no response.
Overall, it was a disappointing and unprofessional experience, and I would not apply again.
