      Staff Technical Program Manager Interview

      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at ServiceNow (San Diego, CA) in Jun 2019

      Interview

Applied online and through an employee referral. Recruiter reached out and setup a phone screening with the hiring manager. After the hiring manager I was brought in for a four person interview. Each interview was 1:1 and lasted about 45 minutes. Very casual and I really enjoyed the conversations. One interview was with a quality engineering manager, one with an engineering director, and the last two were with program managers. I ended up waiting about 3 weeks and finally heard back from the hiring manager. I was told I did extremely well and I would be referred to other positions, but the position I had applied was put on hold and would not be filled at this time. Aside from waiting 3 weeks, I thought the overall process was positive.

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at ServiceNow (Santa Clara, CA) in Aug 2024

      Interview

Process was extremely organized and professional. I applied on-line and was contacted by a recruiter the following week. She set up a phone screen with me and provided me a list of questions we would be covering prior to our call. The call went well and I was moved to the second interview round with the hiring manager. The recruiter told me what to expect during that round, which also went very well. The hiring manager was very amicable and this helped ease the discussion. I was moved to the third interview round which was with a peer on the team. Again, I was informed by the recruiter about the topics of discussion. The peer was fairly new (4 months) and seemed standoffish during the entire interview. I got the sense that she was intimidated by me (I had a lot more experience than her) and was concerned I would try to outshine her (she even mentioned something to that fact). Regardless, I tried to establish a connection with her and I thought I did a great job answering all of her questions. In the end though, I guess her negative input was enough that I was notified the following week they were not moving forward with me. I suppose this is the risk when one has to interview with so many different personalities. Overall though, the process was excellent and from what I could gather from this experience is that ServiceNow would be a great place to work.

      Question 1

What kind of operational metrics did you use in your previous role? Tell me about your experience with SAFe. Tell me about your experience with Release Management. How do you handle competing priorities? How would you handle a situation where multiple stakeholders have different opinions?
