I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Shopify (Cork) in May 2019
Interview
I applied online and I got contacted within 2 days by the Talent Aquisition Team.
I got to book myself the first interview - via an online form (excellent method).
I also received a brief description of the role before booking my first interview: what´s the role about, a schedule overview, and so on.
The first interview was very informal and basically, you chat about your life. This is a great method to get to know someone, without having those boring prepared interview questions.
If they like you, you move on to the second part - The Gauntlet.
This is a practical hands-on interview: role play incl. multiple chats, phone calls, and e-mails. You are basically tested on:
- how well you cope with this kind of work,
- your ability to work under pressure (as you are on a timer),
- how fast you learn: you get feedback after each role-play which you need to take in consideration and improve yourself during the next challenge
Overall: this interview method is great and much more effective than traditional interviews. Even if you fail it (as I did :) - it give you an understanding of why you failed, what you need to do to improve if you want to re-apply in the future
- you need to create a mock store to get a better understanding of the platform
Room for improvement: After having interviewed for a language-specific role, and having submitted my references, only to find out that the position has already filled out before my Gauntlet. That was a bit disappointing.
The reference stage is quite time- consuming for your references. They get a set of super complex questions about you which they need to take time, think through and answer them in a timely manner.

Question 1
No difficult or unexpected questions were asked in this interview.
The first Interview was on phone interview. I did not pass through to next stage of the process, which was an online test. After that would be another formal interview.

Interview
The interview process was pretty intense. They asked me about my life story, but I’d also created a store before that. Then I had to do a technical interview where I pretended I already had the job.

Interview
The interview experience was professional, friendly and organized. Interviewee did notify via email whether I got the offer or not. Great to hear back the results since typically companies don't.
