I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Shopify in Apr 2021
Interview
Pretty casual and friendly. But, not quite long enough to outline all of my skills which I found frustrating. The interviewer hadn't even looked at my resume. The interviewer was casual and I wish I had been given more questions about the job itself.
Interview was great, very friendly interviewer, good communication. Technical interview was challenging but achievable. They accidentally stood me up once, not sure what the reason was, but it's my understanding that the talent department are very busy here usually so I totally understood.
Long process - but very similar to what others have posted. 30 min Interview with the recruiter who was very nice and easy to talk to. Asked standard screening questions
I applied online. I interviewed at Shopify (Toronto, ON) in May 2021
Interview
I applied online for the role. Heard back a few weeks later- at least a month I think, linking me to select a time for a one-on-one video interview as well as a landing page about the job.
The interview itself was fine. Wasn't so much the 'Life Story' one I've heard about. No real typical interview questions. Just feels like went through my LinkedIn, picked out the two/three most typical retail jobs, and essentially just asked me questions about those- almost like they just wanted expanded summaries on them. Nothing really about my ability or other experience or anything. They clearly tried to make it conversational at least.
I was told at the end I'd hear back in two to three business days after the recruiter discussed with their team. Got a rejection about 48 hours later straight from the ATS. Very generic prewritten rejection. Fun.
