The questions failed to focus on the job but more on my own academic profile from 30 years ago! Very little interest in asking about teaching and learning and no safeguarding questions
Interview via zoom. With heads of department. Very friendly experience. Questions were focused on teaching practice and delivering good lessons. School atmosphere was friendly and inviting. Felt it would be a good place to work at.

Question 1
What are the biggest challenges facing eal learners
I applied online. I interviewed at Shrewsbury School (Shrewsbury, England) in Aug 2019
Interview
After applying I was contacted via email to attend an interview. The interview was an assessment to start which included correcting a letter and putting together a professional letter. Then there was an interview with the head of the HR team and another head of. As a person of colour I was not made to feel that the school was an inclusive environment. Every single face was a white face and I immediately felt judged because I was black. I felt I did an excellent interview and answered everything well but was told that I “wasn’t the right fit even though I did an excellent interview” Read into that what you will but after 20 years in HR and Ben told this time and time again it was very clear to me it was because my face literally didn’t fit in with the norm. I unfortunately felt discriminated against due to my race. I clearly had a lucky escape. I guarantee that today there is not one person of colour in the HR team and there is zero diversity thoroughly the entire school.
