      Human Resources Administrator Interview

      Mar 5, 2018
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Alfragide
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Siemens (Alfragide) in Jan 2018

      Interview

The entire interview process is outsourced to Kelly Services, meaning that Siemens' involvement is limited to having line/hiring managers as interview partners. 1st round: face-to-face interview with recruiter(s) at Kelly offices in Lisbon 2nd round: face-to-face interview with Kelly recruiter and line manager Applying via Siemens website, I was contacted by a Kelly recruiter the next day, essentially to check salary expectations and availability and invite for a face-to-face interview with her colleague (phone call took less than 5 minutes). Interview appointment was canceled mere hours before it was supposed to take place on account of the interview partner's sudden illness, and rescheduled for the next day. Upon arriving at their offices the next day, the interview partner was again unable to interview me as he was "in a meeting", and the first Kelly recruiter took over from him together with an assistant. This 1-hour interview was rather standard, asking me to rehash my CV and providing an organizational sketch of Siemens. Again, salary expectations and availability were asked/confirmed. A few days later, another Kelly recruiter (on site at Siemens' premises) contacted me to invite me for an interview in Alfragide with herself and the respective Siemens team lead. Shortly after confirming the date and time via email, the interview had to be postponed to a later time because no room was available for the time slot originally proposed. Arriving at the interview, and after shaking hands with the team lead, I apparently took the wrong seat at the (board-room style) table, because the recruiter rather crassly directed me to sit across from them and not diagonally, creating a very formal setting and a rather long distance between us. She then proceeded to ask EXACTLY THE SAME as her colleague had done in the first interview - either they had not spoken to each other beforehand, or simply wanted to double-check if I'd give the same answers. After elaborating on my entire CV once more, the team lead proceeded to give more details on the role and asked some practical questions that at least seemed relevant, and, following this, the recruiter asked again (you guessed it) about my salary expectations and availability, reacting almost comically flabbergasted at the former (might be their strategy?) and explaining that in 1,5 - 2 weeks I would receive an update, and that there might be a 3rd interview round (they weren't sure yet). She then ushered me out the room (no opportunity to shake hands with the team lead) and stated unequivocally that, even when the answer is a negative one, "Kelly Services always talks with a candidate". After 2,5 weeks of radio silence, I decided to send an email to the same on-site recruiter, asking if there was any update. Never received a response until more than a month (!) later, when a standard rejection email from a completely different (and hitherto unknown) sender and email address was sent, with the information that other applicants with skills more closely aligned had responded... ironically, at exactly the same time they sent the email, the job ad was re-posted online... Interestingly, the one defining skill needed for the job (German language skills) was not addressed at any point during the on-site interview, which took place entirely in English (no German language check). Overall impression: unprofessional - it may be more a reflection of Kelly than of Siemens, but since Siemens uses this company to do their entire recruitment and selection for their Alfragide Service Center, they don't leave a very positive impression either.

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Siemens (Singapore) in Sep 2010

      Interview

Hiring was through agency for the temporary short term contract role. Usual questions such as past working experiences, whether I had the ability to do the job etc. Very short interview process directly with the hiring manager.
