I filled out the application and was notified of a phone interview. Two weeks passed and I heard nothing, so I put it out of my mind. At 5 pm last Monday, I received a call and agreed to do the interview. The next morning I got a call and told they were offering me the job. They told me they would set up my home office and, when I asked questions about what the equipment was, I got very vague responses. (I was concerned because my spouse and I share a very small apartment. I wound up signing the contract but, when I found out that they wanted me to deposit a check from Spectrum in my bank account and then write my own check to pay for the equipment, I wasn't at all comfortable. Why would they not simply give their check to the equipment supplier directly. An e-check for $10,000! I would be showing $10,000.00 in extra income -- TAXES!!!!! And, as far as I was concerned, me paying for the equipment made me responsible for it (even though they said they would be responsible). For the life of me, I cannot figure out how this all made sense. For all I know, it could have been simply been the way they do things. But it sounded like a trap to me. I declined the offer and have heard nothing further from them. If it sounds too good to be true...
