We, as recruiters, are continually learning in order to have the right context to enable us to review applications, source talent, and conduct phone screens with candidates. On phone screens, we need to know baseline technical knowledge to ask experience-based questions relevant to the open position and job duties as defined by the Hiring Manager. We review these questions from time to time, and we also learn how to ask great follow-up questions through workshop training.
