Interview
Two separate interviews, one with the Spokeo team, with 3 rounds, during which they asked me abstract and concrete problems. Then met with Family.me team, and they asked me front end specific questions.

Got contacted by Devin in HR via email, and then by phone. Really cool dude btw. Followed by a tech interview from a developer/manager type. He wanted me to work on a coding exercise at home which was to build a single page with html, css, javascript. I made the page pixel perfect to their specs so I got invited to their office for a 2-3hr interview with a lot of whiteboarding. There were some data structure and algorithm questions as well as css and javascript ones. I fumbled through some of them but I felt like I got the main idea. If I were them I would have given me a chance, but I guess they were looking for perfection.
Personally I always hated whiteboarding, I don't normally code with people watching over my back, so why should I be put in that environment to find out what I can do? I would rather have a timed private coding session/exercise as a test.

At Spokeo we are constantly reviewing our interview structure, and for certain engineering positions have integrated more and more dynamic aspects including pair programming and bug fix exercises on the computer.
