Interview
Lost my job as lead developer of a large studio and was stuck in NL due to COVID. Found and applied on this website (glassdoor) for a job as a medior developer which I can do easily. Was asked to send a folio, then given a task to complete.
They asked when I could find time to do a task, I asked that they send it on Friday so I could do it over the weekend and get some planning time. They were very happy with this. On receiving the task and seeing it was very simple, I sent an email explaining that it's a very common thing and would they mind if I played a bit. They replied with 'Fantastic, go ahead!'
The task was requested to be completed in 4-6 hours. It was to implement Boids which every game developer knows and can do blindfolded in 20 mins... in 3 different languages.
I spent 2-3 hours on the saturday making an extendable version from memory (I had done this before, many times). On the sunday I did a quick review, uploaded to github and shared it.
On THURSDAY I got a rely saying I took too long 'extensively'.
These people are idiots.

Interview
Applied in Stackoverflow. The recruiter called me quick over the phone. After the initial recruiter interview, I was called for face to face interview with the technical team. Two of senior guys took the interview. The hiring manager gave me a positive feedback. After that they talked to one my reference in my previous company. They were really happy about the feedback from my previous employer. They called for next interview which is basically a HR interview to offer me the job officially. I choose to take it.
