I was called to discuss the position, but ended up being a phone interview. Would have preferred knowing in advance I was being interviewed, not just a chat. The atmosphere was very pleasant as you walk in the door, very welcoming. I met with Director of Materials and Purchasing Manager. The interview went very well, easy conversation of my background, experiences and specific issues. Later on that day, I received a phone call, asking if I could come back for a second interview. The second interview would consist of meeting with HR Manager, Legal, President, Director of Materials and Purchasing Manager. Also, I would be tested on Excel, basic skills, math and personality tests, plan on being there 4-5 hrs, for the testing would take 3 hrs. The Excel test was a procurement test, not what I expected, would have preferred honesty over being surprised. There were 4 more tests, all pencil and paper testing, which should have been online to get faster results. The 2 personality tests, approximately 400 questions for both, could have been updated as the one was an ancient booklet, with 100 questions being crossed off. Just over a week later, I was called to tell me they hired another candidate, that was more qualified, verbage per the HR Generalist.
In the middle of the first and second interview, the HR Assistant was let go, the person I had been talking too. It took me 2 days to get HR Mgr to call me back, pleaded with the receptionist, which did the trick. They would have been quite surprised if I would have shown up, as the date was known, the time needed to be confirmed.
