Online application submission was pretty standard. A few weeks later I received an email from their outsourced recruiter in Germany (I applied for a position in the UK) scheduling a phone interview the following week. The email said it was supposed to last 20-30 minutes.
Interviewer called right on the dot, which was great. She spent 5 minutes reading out the company profile, job description, and candidate requirements verbatim from the online job portal. Next, she said that this position does not sponsor Tier 2 visas, which she saw from my CV I required. She would like to confirm that I did need Tier 2 sponsorship, which I confirmed again. Then, she said, "Sorry, we cannot take this further as the company cannot provide sponsorship for this position." I asked why couldn't this have been confirmed through email or just a simple phone call before going through the trouble of scheduling an "interview", and received the same response as earlier that the company did not provide sponsorship for this role. She then proceeded to end the call with a "Thank you for your interest and hope you have a good day."
I was and still am truly perplexed at this waste of time for both parties.
