Generic form to fill out online to apply. Automated response confirming submission. Automated email saying interest in a screening interview with recruiter a couple of days later. Approximately 20 minute phone call with recruiter, who then passed off to hiring manager and their manager a week later. Interview with them for 30-45 minutes. They said they would have the recruiter reach out to set up a technical/culture interview for a week later. I followed up after each step. Then got ghosted for multiple weeks, reach out and followed up just to get ghosted longer. Follow up again, a couple days later got a generic reject letter saying I was not moving forward. Reached out for feed back and recruiter said I was not a good fit experience-wise. But, I have a PhD and 10 years experience in a very select specialty, early-mid career role. I prompted for further details and was fed the same line again just not a good fit from the recruiter, not even the hiring manager or his team.
