I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Target (New York, NY) in Sep 2019
Interview
After applying I was invited to schedule an interview by email. I scheduled the interview for 11:00 AM. The night before the interview I was called by Target and asked to move my interview time to 11:30. I arrived the following day 5 minutes early, however I had to wait in line behind the customers at guest services to let them know that I had arrived. I'm not sure how long I was waiting in line or whether they considered me late.
They told me to have a seat in the Starbucks area so I headed over there at which point I was greeted by name by a very young looking girl. She didn't say she would be interviewing me or tell me to follow her, but I assumed she intended me to. We went into a private room where she let me know she was a company executive and asked me about my availability and why I want to work with Target. They interviewed me for a different position than what it had said online I was being interviewed for (PT front end advocate rather than a FT department sales associate). She spoke at about the same pace as an auctioneer, making it very difficult to understand her, and giving me the impression that she was in an extreme time crunch.
Then we went out on the floor and she gave me a few scenarios that might happen at the register and asked how I would respond. I answered to the best of my ability, but I think she was looking for a very specific response that was listed on her clipboard. She asked me if I had any questions for her and I asked how many hours I could expect. She told me it depends on the person, some people work one day a week and some people work every day a week. I said that I would be looking for something between 20 and 30 hours and she responded by saying I would never get 30 hours. I told her that would also be fine.
She ended the interview there and let me know that they would email me whether I got the job or not within a week.

Question 1
A customer is checking out and you notice they are buying items for a birthday party. How would you interact with this customer?
You just need to do a video interview answering about 6 or 7 questions. You get a total of 3 tries per question. Questions are pretty easy, and mostly about how you handle certain situations and expeirence.

Question 1
Name a time you went above and beyond to help a customer?
Great interview, they did a good job of asking questions and providing me important information about the job as well. It was also over the phone which was easy and they got back to me quick as well.
Email webcam recorded interview. Super easy and multiple chances to record answers. They give you two days to complete the recorded interview from when the link is sent. The link is sent relatively fast after you apply if you are selected.
