I applied through college or university. I interviewed at Tata Consultancy Services (Calcutta) in Sep 2014
Interview
First there was an E-mail writing round. Most of the candidates cleared this. It's easy provided you use all the words given.
Next there was an Aptitude test where questions from basic areas of mathematics were asked. This included Probability, Permutations and Combinations, Number Systems, Time and Work etc. Questions were mostly easy. Plus you have ample time, like 3-4 minutes per question.
After clearing Aptitude, there were two interview rounds- Technical and HR.
In technical round, there were some basic questions asked, like from Constructors, Super class, OOP Concepts and Inheritance. Questions from DBMS included simple SQL queries.
HR round was easy and interactive. It started with self introduction. Questions like strengths and weaknesses, Why TCS etc can be expected.
Overall an easy process. Be confident with what you know and communicate well.

Interview
After clearing the TCS National Qualifier Test (NQT), I attended a single interview round that combined technical and HR questions. The interviewer focused on my projects, programming knowledge, and understanding of current technologies. One of the main discussion topics was the difference between traditional software systems and AI-based systems. The interview was conversational, and the interviewer evaluated problem-solving ability, communication skills, and technical understanding. The overall experience was positive and the difficulty level was average.
