The interview process started through a recruiter, several emails and weeks later (I had already written them off), the manager requested a phone interview. The interview was difficult, it sounded like they were calling from the shop floor. The manager and assistant grilled me on technical matters, nothing out of the ordinary. Weeks later (again, I had written them off) I received an invitation for a roundtable interview. The group questioned me about my background and subject matter knowledge. Again, nothing out of the ordinary but when the assistant began questioning me, things turned very strange. She asked me personal questions and then gave me combative feedback to my answers in front of the group. She asked me technical questions outside the scope of the role I was interviewing for. She grilled me on my educational background and seemed to be looking for contradictions. At some point this meeting turned from an interview to a interrogation. I was very uncomfortable, other employees present also seemed uncomfortable. Afterwards, I was escorted to the CEO's office where he gave me the company pitch and an offer. I told him I would need a few days to think about it. I never returned, they never called me back.
