      Product Support Engineer Interview

      Aug 9, 2015
      Anonymous employee
      Amsterdam
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 10 months. I interviewed at Tesla (Amsterdam) in Sep 2014

      Interview

Alright, the whole process was long, very, vey long. It all started in June 2014 when I applied online. Time passed and I forgot about it. Around the end of august I got a call from HR and had the first screening Interview, it was not that long, a standard screening what do you know about the company and why do you want to work for Tesla type of interview. A couple of days later I got an Interview over Skype with the EU Service Manager, this one was also pretty simple, very few technical questions and more like a conversation to find out if I would fit well with the team. A couple of weeks later I had an Interview with a Technical Manager, this one was the tricky one, it was highly technical and the guy found my Master Thesis and was asking me about some concepts I developed there (Luckily i had just presented my thesis and it was all fresh). I was finally invited to a personal Interview in the London offices. It was a panel with the EU Manager, and two technical managers, it was more about my previous experience and how it would fit in the role I was applying for. By the end of November they called me to say that they wanted me and that the hiring process would start. They asked me to put together an essay type document with highlights of my education and experience, it seems that Elon Musk reviews all the new hires up from a certain level, which tends to slow things down a little bit. From here on it was a very frustrating because the start of the new business year passed and it seemed that the new hires were put on hold until the second quarter started. But the HR staff and the manager were great, keeping me informed on what was happening etc. In May i finally got the call; they finally got all the approvals and the contract was being processed.
