I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Tessell (Bengaluru) in Jan 2026
Interview
my first round was with the hiring manager, a short intro call to understand my profile and he explained the company and expected work. He was very kind and asked genuine questions. I was informed that there will be 3 total rounds, 2 managerial and 1 system design, so I prepared accordingly for next round. This is when things got bad. The interviewer came 15 mins late, then he didn't even care to explain why the delay and without any introductions he directly started with a question. It was a System Design which was supposed to be the 3rd round, I was prepared any ways. The questions was simple, he asked me to design Instagram for all media types with like, comment and trending features. I started drawing the designs from my experience and what I had studied, there was no feedback whatsoever. It was like talking to a wall, I had no clue if this is what he is expecting, the just asked some follow up questions like how to manage such huge data and mostly focused on database and not rest of the architecture at all. It felt like he had some design in his mind which somehow he wanted me to tell without any nudge or feedback. Then he told me after 20 mins or so that he has a meeting and just left. After the interview I checked and I was mostly correct with my answers. Very bad engineer and its good I got rejected, THIS IS A HUGE RED FLAG.

It took over two weeks to receive the final update, and despite getting encouraging feedback throughout the process, I was ultimately not selected. It’s quite disappointing, as I genuinely expected an offer.
