Leader Development Rotational Program (LDRP) Interview

      Mar 13, 2013
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Dallas, TX
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Texas Instruments (Dallas, TX)

      Interview

I was chosen as a candidate, one of four, from the pool of summer interns across TI. We were flown out to Dallas and interviewed by a panel of about 20 engineers working in various roles throughout TI FABs in the Dallas area. Candidates are given a tour of the facility by a previous year's hire and then given lunch. After lunch with the panel, the interviewers were split into four rooms, each room with 3-4 engineers and one HR rep. Candidates randomly rotated through any three of the rooms for interviews. Almost all questions were soft-skill questions. I hear if you have a more materials background, you tend to get more technical questions. 1st room: give a timed presentation and field questions. 2nd room: questions on past experience and expectations 3rd room: questions on leadership (situational) and expectations Afterwards all candidates are assembled and asked to solve a hands on design problem with heavy time pressure.

      Question 1

The group project at the end was difficult because we were expected to "cooperate and compete" with the other candidates while being watched by all interviewers. It was odd because interviewers would not specify if individual goals were more important than group goals, rather we should try to accomplish everything. It was interesting.
