    Average Interview

    Application

I applied in-person. The process took 4+ weeks. I interviewed at The New Indian Express (Chennai (India)) in July 2013.

    Interview

Very straightforward interview process. However, it is a bit drawn out I applied in person and got call for written test in two weeks. However, post written test got call for PI only after one full month. Written test for grammar and writing skill. No GK, just English proficiency. Then PI was directly with Resident Editor and Exec. Editor. Interviews were extremely informal. The more relaxed the candidate the better. Although going through Campus interview, I've heard is much more formal.

    Interview Questions

    • Very informal. Previous work exp. Reasons to join. Interest in journalism and reasons why and future plans (They are very particular about how long you intend to stay – the longer the better)   Answer Question

    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at The New Indian Express in September 2011.

    Interview

As I got to know that the hiring process was slow in the southern states in the media firms, especially in the newspaper industry, the two-month-long process still seemed to be too long, going by the norms of the industry. Despite of this, I found the work atmosphere to be quite good, people have work ethics and are quite professional.
